The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) exists to deliver support to the moral component of fighting power by providing leadership, direction, and guidance to the Regimental family. The Headquarters is the custodian and conscience on all Regimental matters.
The REME RHQ is an inclusive organisation and represents the Whole Force with a staff of 52 comprised of Civil Servants, Army Regular and Reserves, Grant-in-Aid posts and contractors. The REME are comprised of the Army's professional engineers and the Engineering Assurance role is critical, being the focal point and liaison lead for interactions with the UK Professional Engineering Institutes (PEIs).
We are looking for a friendly, professional, and adaptable Engineering Assurance specialist to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian professionals working within MOD Lyneham, Chippenham.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week, The Engineering Assurance role is directly responsible to Colonel REME for the delivery, assurance, development and support to the delivery of Professional Engineering Institute registrations for REME Personnel., Working closely with the wider REME Headquarters team on furthering whole life development for our personnel, you will be the Authorising Officer for all REME applications (circa 460 per annum) for membership of the Professional Engineering Institutions. These Professional Engineering Institutes have agreed, specialist processes to support the Army's unique circumstances and therefore you will be responsible for handling these revised procedures. You will also take on the function as the Professional Registration Adviser and act as mentor to all applicants for Incorporated (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration (circa 120 per annum).
You will liaise directly with the Professional Engineering Institutions to foster strong links and to develop a simplified path for the accreditation for REME personnel. This will involve mapping REME competencies to the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competencies and negotiating with PEIs to identify career break points for REME personnel that ensure they are able to gain professional accreditation in line with their qualifications and experience.
You will be expected to liaise with the PEI focal points in other Arms and Services and attend the quarterly Defence Committee as the REME representative. You will also advise Col REME on developments in UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competencies and the implications for REME Whole Life Development.
Finally, you will be the primary point of contact for all enquiries relating to REME Engineering Awards and these duties will include collating all nominations, briefing panel members on their individual areas of responsibility, preparing information packs, preparing all correspondence and ensuring our Instructions and website information is up to date., We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

+ Seeing the Big Picture, Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
