Mascalls Academy is excited to offer an opportunity to join us as a Art / Design & Technology Technician, working across two dynamic departments that inspire our students' creativity and problem-solving skills. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on, collaborative environment and enjoys making a real impact in education. In this unique position, you'll split your time between the Design Technology and Art departments, supporting teaching and learning by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and helping students unleash their creativity through practical projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Design Technology, Product Design and Art curriculum areas by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring smooth lesson delivery.
  • Cleaning and maintaining workshop equipment, machinery, and art tools while ensuring stock inventories are up to date.
  • Supporting students during practical lessons and conducting small group demonstrations on the use of equipment, machinery, and artistic techniques.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are followed and relevant risk assessments are carried out in both departments.
  • We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Is reliable and able to complete tasks effectively without direct supervision.
  • Has strong organisational skills and can manage tasks across two departments efficiently.
  • Is flexible and prepared to take on a variety of tasks within both Design Technology and Art areas.
  • Can communicate appropriately with young people and adults.
  • Works well as part of a team, contributing to the success of both departments.
  • Is willing to undergo further training if required.

    The working basis of the role is 37 hours per week, Term Time Only, offering an actual salary of £19,825 - £20,452 per annum (£23,656 - £24,404 full-time equivalent).
