Full Job Description

To work as part of the pharmacy aseptic team in providing an efficient, effective and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and customers including dispensing of chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition and civas products to departments and other outlying units where appropriate., 1. To dispense aseptically prepared items in line with aseptic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)ensuring that standards of quality, accuracy and timeliness are met. To work under the supervision of the aseptic unit workload Co-ordinators, technicians or pharmacists.
2. To assist with any appropriate elements of the manufacturing processes within the aseptic unit if required.
3. Receive into the unit clinically verified work requests from clinics and wards. Provide the clinic or ward staff with appropriate information on when the drugs will be dispatched and the likely waiting time. Answer any basic queries concerning the supply of medication from the aseptic unit, including phone queries, referring them to a Co-ordinator, technician or pharmacist to answer any clinical or technical query.
4. To support the clinical verification process, obtaining and organising prescriptions for thempharmacist to screen prior to being sent to the aseptic unit.
5. Keep all work areas clean and tidy. Adhere to all relevant SOPs in the aseptic unit. Ensure stock is rotated and in date. Participate in the ordering and receipt process for the aseptic unit.
6. Assist in basic clerical duties including filing and photocopying.
7. Work flexibly across all of the Pharmacy departments, covering the work of colleagues during peak periods or absence.
8. Participate in appropriate training and development activities including your own personal development and participate in the education and training of colleagues.
9. Participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set objectives.
10. Participate in weekend, late night and Bank Holiday working as may be required.
11. Undertake any other duties as required by the Director of Pharmacy in accordance with the grade and nature of the post.

Applicants should have good communication & organisational skills; be self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills, be flexible and able to work well in an environment of change and transition. Applicants must also have good computer skills and be able to work well under pressure. Parts of this job are physically demanding and it is essential that you are physically fit.
You must be willing to learn and take responsibility, working well within a diverse team consisting of Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacists, Nurses and Clerical staff. You will also be expected to develop good working relationships with other departments within the Pharmacy and Hospital.
You will work closely with the rest of the pharmacy team to provide high quality pharmaceutical care to all patients within the Trust.
