Full Job Description

We are an industry focused specialist team based within Grant Thornton's Financial Services Tax practice in London. We advise a range of financial institutions, from large international banks, asset managers and insurance companies to UK based private equity and alternative funds, as well as start-up fintech companies on compliance with respect to various global tax reporting regimes.

For asset managers in particular this includes the range of investor tax reporting, withholding taxes and tax compliance for investment funds.

We advise clients on how to comply and to help them meet their obligations as an integral part of their business, managing day to day compliance needs and annual reporting to tax authorities.

We are looking for a Managerto join our growing team to help support the delivery of these services and enable us to further develop our offerings.

We go to market alongside other tax colleagues, as well as our financial services regulatory, consulting and internal audit teams.

You may already be based in an advisory practice working with financial services clients on tax matters or in house with a financial institution specialising in this area.

Here are some things you can expect from this Asset Management / Operational Tax Managerrole :

You'll be given significant exposure to clients, working alongside large and complex financial institutions to manage their tax compliance obligations

You'll be given early responsibility for producing high quality client deliverables whilst developing your commercial understanding of different types of financial institutions, how they operate in different business, product and geographical areas.

You will also have financial management responsibilities, overseeing billing and debtor management

You'llhave access to the firm's training and development opportunities to broaden your technical and commercial skillsets.

You'll have the opportunity to network internally and are afforded a great deal of access to our Partner and Director team.

You'll be working within a high performing, specialist financial services team that will support your development and enable you to thrive

A professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent), and UK Tax experience

You will have at least 5 years experience in operational taxes

Experience of asset management and / or operational tax matters gained in practice or an in-house role knowing what the tax legislation requires and how it is applied in practice.

This should include one or several of the following regimes : Investor tax reporting, taxation of UK funds, application of withholding taxes and double tax treaties, FATCA / CRS, Qualified Intermediary, and / or UK reporting

It would be great if you also had some of the following skills, but don't worry if you don't tick every box, we'll help you develop along the way;

A desire to learn more in areas that may not be in your skillset currently

Strong team player, make sure you ask questions and be ready to challenge, good at managing others
