Full Job Description

We're excited to welcome a new Asset Surveyor to our property services team! In this role, you will be responsible for conducting asset surveys to assess the condition and suitability of our properties. You will play a vital role in ensuring the maintenance and improvement of our housing stock, as well as contributing to our future planning and investment strategies. This is a field-based role, and you will predominantly be covering the South Yorkshire region.,

  • To survey and review the condition of the stock and ensure that data is provided for the surveys of both vacant and occupied dwellings and provide a detailed report on their condition together with recommendations to resolve any defects or improvements that may be required along with an estimate of costs.
  • Upload data when required in respect of new build schemes and their stock attributes.
  • Liaise with Technical staff as appropriate to ensure that stock condition data is maintained and updated in an accurate, appropriate and timely manner.
  • Work with the Senior Project Co-ordinator/Delivery Manager Property Asset Management to develop effective and comprehensive planned maintenance and improvement programmes to ensure that funding is targeted at those properties with the highest priority
  • Provide support and assistance to other team members in areas of programme surveys, data on stock, work specification and any other area to enable them to deliver their part of the service
  • Survey properties to assess hazards for compliance HHSRS and decent homes and any future relevant standards.
  • Act at all times within the Groups rules, policies, procedures, Standing Orders and Financial Regulations

    A valid driver's license and access to a car are essential.
  • Experience of working within a construction related environment
  • Relevant qualifications in the Construction industry that are applicable
  • Experience of carrying out stock condition surveys on both individual properties and blocks, including internal and external surveys and all associated communal areas
  • Knowledge of building practice and policy, including the Decent Homes Standard and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System
  • Literacy skills sufficient to write brief reports and correspond with customers and colleagues in writing via letter or e-mail
  • Numeracy skills sufficient to calculate quantities and costs for stock condition purposes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in using surveying tools and software

  • Please be aware that we are currently hiring for three positions: one to manage East Yorkshire, including areas such as Hull and Beverley; another for South Sheffield, covering locations like Barnsley and Rotherham; and a third position for Lancashire, encompassing areas such as Colne, Blackburn, and Rawtenstall.
  • This is a field-based role, and you will predominantly be covering the South Yorkshire region.
  • Starting salary of £29,582 per annum
  • Annual pay scale increase
  • Full-time permanent positions
  • 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years' service) + bank holidays
  • You will be working on site for the duration of your work week.
