Full Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the HS2 Finance team with the delivery of the overall day-to-day and periodic deliverables. What you'll do:

  • Monthly Recharges Process: execute the monthly recharges process, including running cost reports, cleaning and normalizing data, locating backup documentation, and ensuring accurate recharges from start to finish.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports to provide timely and accurate financial information.
  • Review weekly JV cashflow forecasting with Senior Project Accountant.
  • Assist with weekly missing timesheet reporting and follow up with staff.
  • Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations of balance sheet to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure data integrity within the accounting system.
  • Audit Preparation: Provide support during audits by preparing documentation, responding to audit queries, and ensuring readiness for internal, external and client audits.
  • Support the Accountant with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Collaboration with Departments: Work closely with other departments to resolve finance-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • Provide cover to other members of the team in their absence, ensuring team resilience is in place.

    Accounting qualification
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Accounting system skills (including Oracle if possible)
  • Good attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Proactive, highly organised and can work under pressure
  • Team player
