Cogent Skills is working with Accord Healthcare Ltd to recruit an Assistant Account Apprentice for its busy manufacturing site in Fawdon. The successful candidate will be employed by Cogent Skills Services but will undertake all on-job learning with Accord Healthcare Ltd. The Apprentice will follow the Assistant Accountant Advanced Apprenticeship Standard, which will combine on-job learning with study of the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting. An assistant accountant helps in the operation of day-to-day financial activities. These may include data entry to month end management accounts and year-end financial statements. In addition, the assistant accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements. These may include the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations. The role will be interesting and varied and typical activities will include:

• Assisting with monthly and year end reporting of financial and accounts information
• Overhead fixed cost reporting
• Ledger reconciliations
• Investigation of monthly manufacturing variances
• Organise weekly cycle counts
• Direct Labour Analysis
• Cost Accounting
  
  Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4 or above, including English and mathematics., Ability to work as part of a team: contributing to and working with others
• Good verbal and written communication skills - willing to speak to others, in person or by e-mail and phone
• Able to build and maintain positive working relationships with people across the business
• Good organisational and administration skills - uses time efficiently and effectively, ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
• Strong numeracy skills and ability to manipulate, analyse and present data
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Uses initiative by finding ways to complete tasks/solve queries
• High degree of personal sincerity and integrity, able to maintain confidentiality and display the highest levels of professionalism at all times
• Customer focused - understands the needs of the customer, providing excellent service at all times
• Methodical, accurate and detail-conscious approach to work
• Strong desire to learn, a positive attitude and the flexibility to adapt to change and work effectively in a variety of situations, Qualification to be delivered: AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, This role is part of our talent planning for the future and, for the right person, we are looking to continue to develop the Apprentice upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship.
Our business is growing, is fast paced and evolving, so there may be the opportunity to gain permanent employment in the team, subject to performance, successful completion of the Apprenticeship, and a role being available. Salary - Starting salary is Apprentice Minimum Wage for the first year Apprentices could be eligible for annual wage increments, subject to company budgets and satisfactory completion of goals. Potential future salary in a permanent finance role, subject to completion of the apprenticeship and an Accord position being available, is around £25,000,
