Full Job Description

In addition to the usual daily duties, to assist the Catering Manager in
achieving the standard required by Wimbledon College and in accordance
with Statutory Regulations. To take charge in his/her absence the
responsibility for the preparation, cooking and service of food and beverages,
clearing up afterwards and other related catering duties. To ensure that
efficient and economic use is made of all resources.

Work Context
The kitchen caters for up to 1000 covers a day across a breakfast, midmorning
break and lunch service. As the Kitchen Supervisor, you will be
responsible for a team of 10 staff ensuring training, development and
management of the team, as well as ensuring that all operational standards
are hit.
Food service workers typically stand for long periods of time and often carry
heavy trays. They work in kitchens that are hot, humid, fast-paced and can be
noisy., 1. To prepare the dining areas which may include moving and setting up
furniture, setting trolleys and cleaning and dismantling of these as required.

2. To prepare the service areas, hot cupboards and other equipment in
the kitchen/dining rooms for efficient and effective catering services.

3. To assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages
as defined by Wimbledon College.

4. To wash dishes, cutlery tumblers jugs, serving utensils, containers,
tables and all other catering equipment in the dining rooms and kitchen.

5. To clean on a daily basis all catering areas to standards laid down by
Wimbledon College.

6. To contribute to the creation of a welcoming and efficient food service
which supports the school's healthy eating aims.

7. To undergo on and off job training sessions as required by Wimbledon
College.

MAIN DUTIES IN ASSISTING THE CATERING MANAGER/ COVERING
ABSENCE

1. To plan, operate and control the production and service of food
related duties for the dining hall and refectory areas.

2. To take responsibility for the standard of cleanliness and hygiene of
premises and equipment.

3. To order all food and other commodities required from designated
suppliers.

4. To operate and control stocks, stock records and ensure correct
completion and submission of all appropriate returns and records to
the target dates identified.

5. To create a welcoming and efficient food service which supports the
schools healthy eating aims.

6. To control and assist with any other catering functions.

7. To maintain Wimbledon College standards of kitchen, allergen and
personal hygiene and Health and Safety and operate to the
standard required by the Statutory Health and Safety and Hygiene
Regulations; this will include the induction and training of staff.

8. To undertake any other duties that may be required for the effective
operation of the catering establishment.

To attend on and off job training sessions as required., 12. Will comply with procedures covering Health & Hygiene, allergens, child
safeguarding, health, safety, confidentiality and data security.
Recording and reporting any concerns to an appropriate person.

13. Will be required to contribute and support the overall aims and ethos of
the College. All staff are required to participate in training and other
learning activities, and in performance management and development
in line with the College's policies and practices.

1. Appropriate level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills to
perform the duties required of the post.
2. Level 2 or 3 certificate in food hygiene in addition to an NVQ or
equivalent qualification in food preparation.

3. Currently working in catering in a similar sized operation or Catering
Manager of a smaller operation. With proven background or experience
within catering [preferably education sector].

4. High volume experience

5. Willing to be involved in school activities and a strong background in
events/ hospitality

6. A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to
children and adults.

7. Will provide service with a friendly, polite, upbeat and positive attitude.

8. Will have patience and a sense of humour and be able to work in a
busy environment;

9. Will demonstrate professionalism, honesty, exceptional timekeeping
and reliability;

10. Will be a methodical and practical worker, proactive - able to work
without supervision and use initiative;

11. Must have a flexible approach and be willing and able to work under
pressure as part of the catering team, ready to support his/her
colleagues as the need arises.

Salary: Sc4 SCP 7
Hours: 7am to 2pm 7 hours per day (35 hours per week), 38
weeks in term time
