Full Job Description

Assistant Chief Engineers in our stylish hotel take a proactive, hands-on approach, assisting in overseeing all aspects of maintenance operations to ensure the highest standards are maintained, to create a welcoming and safe environment that consistently exceeds guests' expectations.

  • Lead and manage the maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services.
  • Manage the maintenance budget, including tracking expenses, forecasting future needs, and optimising resource allocation.
  • Oversee hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in maintenance operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support the overall operation of the hotel and address maintenance-related issues.
  • Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and supporting green initiatives.
  • Address guest concerns promptly, attentively and efficiently.
  • Coach, train, and support the team to provide consistently high standards while continually seeking improvement.

    Strong leadership skills with proven experience in managing a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
  • Full understanding of financial aspects, budgeting and profit and loss.
  • Proven experience in managing, coaching, challenging and developing teams.
  • Approachable and positive manner with a can do attitude.
  • Ability to use initiative in challenging situations and under pressure.
  • A smart and professional appearance.
  • Proven track record in a similar position within a 4-star hotel.
  • Recognised electrical or engineering qualification and specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields.
  • Pool plant operator qualification preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and best practices.
  • Previous experience using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • High standard of English, both written and spoken.
