Full Job Description
Responsible for the unloading and rehouse of objects from across the collection as part of a major storage move project with a focus on archaeological assemblages, large objects including casts and sculptures, and textile collections. This role is primarily technical. Problem solving is a key aspect of the role, and a flexible approach to working is essential. Please note we have 2 roles available. Key areas of responsibility:
- To facilitate the unloading, unpacking, and rehousing of objects across the collections
- To observe best practice in all aspects of object handling and collections storage
- To facilitate the packing of objects for permanent storage (as required)
- To monitor security of objects and to maintain them in good condition in storage and in transit
- To maintain and update essential object documentation, including location information and photography
Good general education including GCSEs or equivalent - Demonstrable interest in aspects of the Museum's collections
- Manual dexterity
- Understanding and appreciation of materials and objects
