Full Job Description

We're currently looking to recruit an Assistant Commercial Accountant within our Kier Places Finance Team on a 16 month Fixed Term Contract. This role will support the finance team in ensuring the accurate production of financial and management information as well as supporting the local management teams., As an Assistant Commercial Accountant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Provision of front-line support to the Residential Solutions team, assisting and completing weekly and monthly reporting, including trading performance, cost base analysis and cash conversion.

  • Provision of support to business segment management including attending local contract management and customer meetings where required.

  • Assisting the Finance Business Partner with new contract mobilisations so that all financial reporting requirements are in place.

  • Assisting with the preparation of business segment management accounts, including reporting packs / commentary and analysis.

  • Preparation of analysis in respect of WIP, Debt and cash positions on contracts.

  • Assisting with the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual business plans.

  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations.

    Ideally working towards attaining a professional finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA.

  • Previous experience of preparing cost journals.

  • Experience operating in a commercial Finance or accounting role, with the ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office and bespoke packages and accounting systems e.g. Oracle. In addition

  • Effective analytical skills and the ability to manage large volumes of data

  • Strong communication skills, (both written and verbal)

  • Experience of working in finance preferably in a contract environment

  • Relevant financial experience in a commercial environment
