Full Job Description

The BBC Homepage runs on a rota system. The Live desk is operational from 0700-2200 365 days a year. One week in four shifts will on average be 0700-1500 and similarly one week will be 1400-2200. This also the case for weekends. Team members may be required to work Bank Holidays and all staff are expected to cover a portion of the main Christmas period., The Assistant Content Producer will assist in the preparation and production of curations on bbc.co.uk. The successful candidate will contribute creative ideas and bring the highest quality content production skills, including picture research, selecting and curation content on a variety of topics including news and sport, writing promotional copy, and other digital production activities.,

  • To support the Content Producer and Senior Content Producer in the production of bbc.co.uk
  • To work effectively with other departments to gather relevant materials for proactive production of time-sensitive content.
  • Influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively both within the team and with stakeholders.
  • To ensure all content is of a first class standard and accurate - in keeping with audience needs and expectations.
  • To ensure that output complies with BBC editorial, technical, design and accessibility standards and that BBC Health and Safety policy isa observed.
  • To be technically proficient to the requirements of the role or to show evidence of similar skills and ability to learn.
  • To participate in projects that support the BBC Homepage under the direction of Content Producer and Senior Content Producers including the use of planning and organisational skills.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritisation, working to deadlines.
  • Understanding when to escalate.
  • To undertake administrative duties relevant to recording and monitoring fairness, balance, and copyright related issues.

    A knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies, or has the desire to glean this knowledge quickly.
  • Understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality.
  • Experience of creating first class content
  • Experience of writing clear and concise material.
  • Ability to use IT proficiently.
  • Ability to develop creative ideas.
  • Ability to problem solve and suggestive effective solutions.

    Salary: £27,800 - £33,333 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
