Full Job Description

Hertfordshire Catering Limited (HCL) are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Assistant Cook to work in our lovely primary schools. This role is term time only, working Monday to Friday, so it's ideal for a great work-life balance! You will be working with a great team at our school in Bernards Heath Infants School. At HCL, staff are our greatest asset. We are proactive in providing training and support to develop your culinary skills, all part of working within a highly motivated team. Your role as an Assistant Cook will involve:

  • Prepare and cook meals including any special dietary requirements
  • Cleaningduties within the kitchen/dining area
  • Stocktaking/ordering
  • Maintainingbudgets
  • Adhereto Food Safety Management System
  • Health & Safety compliance
  • Food service to students & staff
  • Friendly and polite customer service
  • Deputise for Cook Manager in their absence

  • Passionate about food
  • Previous catering experience is desirable
  • Able to manage and motivate a team
  • Food hygiene level 2 (preferred, but not essential as training will be given)
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Demonstrate exceptional timekeeping and reliability
  • The ability to communicate fluently with customers in accurate spoken and written English is essential for the post
