Full Job Description

The Research and Innovation team within IT Services supports researchers and research groups from all the departments, faculties and flagship institutes that make up the University. The requirement to use health and social care data in research is expanding rapidly across all research disciplines including Health, Social Sciences, Science, and Engineering, and driving methodological advances in AI and computational modelling. To support this growing need, the University has funded the Data Connect service to improve researchers' access to health and social care data. This full-time role will be offered as a fixed-term contract until 30 April 2025 to deliver an extension to the CURED+ research database, a database essential to the delivery of the Data Connect service. As Data Manager, you will support service users by understanding research needs, helping researchers to find and apply for data, providing support with information governance in line with data security standards. You will work closely with the Data Specialist and report to the Research Project Manager, supported within the wider Data Connect and Research IT teams.

You will use your experience of working with large and sensitive datasets and ability to gather technical data requirements to support the diverse needs of researchers. You will be able to deal with multiple conflicting priorities and demonstrate a problem-solving attitude. What We Offer:

  • 38 days annual leave (including closure days and Bank Holidays) pro rata.
  • Up to 5 days of paid time off to cover emergency caring responsibilities.
  • A commitment to work life balance including, flexible working opportunities and hybrid working where possible.
  • A highly competitive pension scheme.
  • Discounts at participating shops and cinemas, and a cycle to work scheme.
  • A commitment to your development, with programmes, learning modules and mentoring schemes.
  • An inclusive and diverse workplace.
  • A commitment to your wellbeing, with confidential emotional support, support for those going through the menopause, experiencing fertility treatment and having a baby, paid leave for IVF treatment and more.
  • We are committed to enabling our employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience. « Return to the search results
