Full Job Description

1. Assist the Estates Maintenance Engineer to be the first response to any urgent/high-priority reactive maintenance (mechanical and electrical) issues at both the Hillingdon Hospital (HH) and Mount Vernon Hospital (MVH) sites.

1. Act as the Competent Person (CP)/Skilled Person (SP) for multiple disciplines as per requirements within the Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs).

1. Assist the Estates Maintenance Engineer with any statutory planned maintenance inspections which require the relevant training and qualifications. E.g. a Domestic and/or Commercial Gas Safe qualification and an in-date license to carry out the servicing of gas boilers; or a Competent Person (CP)/Authorised Person (AP) qualification and successful completion of assessment by the relevant Authorised Engineer (AE).

1. Assist the Estates Maintenance Engineer with caring out regular and timely integrity checks and audits of plant rooms, all maintenance service functions, systems and processes to ensure that the service complies to statutory directives, Health and Safety and COSHH, UK legislation and local policies and procedures so as to ensure the continued safety of the organisations staff, patients, visitors and contractors.

Main duties of the job

Meet the Trust's performance target for attending to and completing work orders within the time frame allocated (as per the Key Performance Indicators & Service Level Agreement for Estates Maintenance).

Responding to and completing work orders within the time frame allocated and meeting the Trust's customer service standards and expectations.

Competent with use of a PDA for opening (starting) and closing (completing/signing off) work orders electronically.

To assist the Estates Maintenance Engineer with attending, investigating, and resolving any urgent/high-priority reactive maintenance (mechanical and electrical) issues within Trust's Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the assistance of the in-house Estates Maintenance Workforce. If the issue cannot be resolved within this period, then it must be "made safe" and escalated to the Estates Maintenance Manager and/or applicable Estates Officer.

To act as the Competent Person (CP)/Skilled Person (SP) in relation to specific maintenance responsibilities e.g. medical gases, steam equipment, water quality, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and pressure systems.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
