Full Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to be part of the company's leadership team, contribute to the overall aims of the company through the efficient and compliant financial management of financial and business matters.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in both manual and electronic record systems, and support compliance through account preparation and auditing.

  • Oversee month-end reporting activities, ensuring accurate KPI reporting, and assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Manage payroll activities, including timesheets and agency records, ensuring completion by deadlines, and handle credit control and debt management.

  • Monitor fixed asset expenditures, complete monthly financials, and regularly review and update financial policies in agreement with the F&B Manager.

  • Ensure client invoices are raised monthly, check all Accounts Payable invoices, and review cost centers.

  • Develop process guides for financial activities to support ISO accreditation, conduct variance analysis, and assist in producing monthly accounts and journals.

    Professional qualifications from a recognised accountancy body such as CIMA, ACCA or AAT

  • Experienced user of accounting software (specifically Xero) and competent with banking, invoicing, purchase ledger, reconciliations, journals etc

  • Significant experience at a senior level to demonstrate competence in planning, delivering and reviewing annual budget cycles for a multi-site operation

  • Ability to investigate and identify trend, provide commentary and recommendations to monthly management accounts

  • Collecting recycling and waste from over 100,000 homes and commercial businesses across North Somerset and the wider area

  • Managing Household Waste Recycling Centres at Backwell, Portishead and Weston along with two Waste Transfer Stations in Weston.

  • Maintaining 1,100km of North Somerset highways including surface repairs, winter maintenance, gully management, drainage and kerbing repairs, signage and linemarking, and 24/7 emergency response services.

  • HGV Driver and mobile plant training, vehicle servicing and maintenance, event cleaning and other environmental and highway maintenance specialisms to commercial businesses
