The Role: The Assistant Financial Accountant role is within the Finance function of IFDL, a regulated investment firm. The position requires a sound understanding of financial principles, analytical skills and requires
effective communication. The role is responsible for the preparation of monthly management packs, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and plays a key part in the businesses quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes. Key Responsibilities for this role: Assist with the month end process, including the analysis of accruals and prepayment schedules, preparation and posting of journals, analysis as well as producing variance commentary for Monthly Management packs. To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G's operational risk. Production of weekly bank reconciliations and monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Production of weekly management information to allow analysis of business activity and aid informed decision making. Production and circulation of Monthly/Quarterly Financial
Reporting Provide business partnering support across the business, providing critical challenge where necessary and facilitating the business objectives. Review and approval of Purchase Order requisitions. Assist with Quarterly forecast and annual budget processes for the business including AuA, Flows and Revenue, expenditure analysis, commentary and MI for Board packs. Assist and manage system changes and updates during the forecasting and budgeting process Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk. Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Able to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels and build strong relationships across the business. Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a good track record of process improvement. Able to question and understand complex financial data and demonstrate experience in presenting
analysis in a succinct manner and appropriate format. Self-directed, self-motivated and strong learning ability. Able to complete work independently with attention to detail. Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Excellent Microsoft skills. Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
