Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a diligent and proactive Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career in financial accounting while contributing to the smooth financial operations of our business.
The RoleAs an Assistant Financial Accountant, you will support the finance team in a variety of accounting tasks, assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, reconciliations, and tax computations. You will play an integral part in ensuring that all financial reporting requirements are met accurately and on time.
This is an ideal role for an individual who thrives in a busy, deadline-driven environment and is looking to further develop their skills in financial accounting.
Let's take a closer look at role responsibilities:

Prepare monthly management accounts for smaller company accounts.
Calculate month-end accruals and provisions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, clear reconciling items, and critically challenge the basis of calculation to ensure accuracy.
Assist in the preparation of the quarterly reconciliation file.
Provide weekly and daily cash reporting.
Assist in the preparation of corporation tax computations and statutory accounts for multiple subsidiary entities.
Complete ONS surveys and ensure all required documentation and compliance tasks are met.
Support the financial reporting team with routine tasks such as VAT return schedules, investor report reconciliations, and consolidation entries for post-takeover accounting.
Assist with the external audit process by preparing schedules and reconciling any discrepancies.

Previous experience in financial accounting or a related role, ideally within a corporate or group structure.
Part-qualified with ATT or working towards ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualifications is desirable.
Proficiency in accounting systems (Oracle or similar).
Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and month-end close processes.
Intermediate Excel experience with an understanding of PivotTables, CountIFs, VlookUps etc.
Experience with VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and statutory accounts preparation is advantageous.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all financial reporting tasks.
Proactive and organised with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible in their approach and happy to work in a hybrid model of 3 office days, 2 from home in our Birmingham Head Office.

£30,000 - £35,000 per annum.
