Full Job Description

The Assistant Headteacher for the Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting (AHT: CAR) at Acorn Park School plays a major role in supporting the Co-Heads of School, Deputy Head Teachers and Middle Leaders with; the intent, implementation and impact of the curriculum; the assessment and tracking of pupil progress and; our reporting processes (including data summaries, parental reports and other illustrations of our impact as required).
This role will span both the Formal and Semi-Formal curriculum pathways. The AHT: CAR will ensure that both pathways are effective at meeting the diverse range of needs within each cohort and will ensure that there is an effective cross over provision for pupils with particularly spikey profiles, and those young people needing to transition between pathways at any time.
As a member of the leadership team, the AHT: CAR will play a major role in formulating the culture, vision, aims and objectives of the school, establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources to achieve the aims and objectives and monitor and evaluate progress towards their achievement.
Roles and Responsibilities:
+ In addition to the professional duties as given in the current Teacher standards, the AHT: CAR will be non-class based but will have some teaching responsibilities to help develop successful practice across the school.
+ The AHT: CAR will ensure that all teaching demonstrates best practice, develops relationships, supports training and development and ensures 'quality teaching first', and thus ensuring all pupils make excellent progress across the school. Progress will be measured against individual pupils EHCP aims, complemented by measures of progress against the national curriculum and other academic assessment measures for both formal and semi-formal pathways.
+ The AHT: CAR will take lead responsibility for ensuring the best possible curriculum offer, provision, well-being, progress and achievement for all pupils especially through enrichment, creative learning, extended services, partnerships and collaboration with others. In particular, the AHT: CAR will ensure that the impact of our clinical services and provisions teams are measured, monitored and reported alongside pupils' progress in a wide range of other criteria-based and curriculum-based measured of progress.
+ The AHT: CAR will be a model professional setting an excellent example to teaching and support staff. They will actively and demonstrably promote achievement through building and implementing agreed school policies.
+ The AHT: CAR will lead by example in their own teaching practice, and by positively encouraging and supporting all members of staff.
+ The AHT: CAR will work to ensure that the school offers a high quality, exciting, engaging, well resourced, differentiated curriculum and well-matched learning opportunities for all pupils at the school.

+ Qualified Teacher Status
+ 4 years teaching experience including SEN
+ Expert understanding of innovative pedagogy
+ Experience of assessment systems and process management

Acorn Park is a school for 98 pupils, who all have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two curriculum pathways - Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway which is highly personalised from their EHCP. We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils as we have 8 co-located pupil's homes on our 30 Acre site in rural Norfolk. On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms.
For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
