Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to make a real difference to the lives of our residents, our staff and our communities across Wales. As one of our Assistant Health and Safety Officers you will be instrumental by supporting our team of Health & Safety Officers and the organisation to deliver our services in a safe and efficient manner, providing professional support to staff at all levels of the organisation., You will take up a role of Assistant Health & Safety Officer, which is based in our South Wales office in Cardiff. The Assistant Health and Safety Officer supports the health and safety team and is a first point of contact for staff in the organisation who have occupational health and safety queries, as well as taking the lead on system administration for our occupational H&S software and systems. The main areas of responsibility in this role are:

  • To be an active member of the Health and Safety team, supporting the team and deputising where necessary.
  • To be the first point of contact for, and deal with all enquiries internally and externally for all occupational health and safety related queries including providing advice and guidance.
  • To assist the Group Health and Safety Manager and the Health and Safety Officers in the administration and monitoring of all aspects of health and safety support and in the delivery of Health and Safety action plans.
  • To research, initiate and participate in the development of initiatives to address Health and Safety issues and proactively support a positive health and safety culture.
  • To develop, organise and support the Group Health and Safety Manager and Officers in the delivery of Health and Safety training sessions, as well as delivering some training.

  • Do you have:
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • Relevant experience in a health and safety role?
  • A strong customer focus, and empathetic approach to dealing with customers?
  • The ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills?
  • Strong attention to detail?
  • Confidence and excellent presentation skills
  • IT literacy with competency in Word, Excel and Outlook, To succeed in this role, you will have a genuine passion and interest in what we do as an organisation and a demonstrable track record of providing expert Health and Safety advice, guidance and support, ideally within a housing or customer focused environment. You will have a good understanding of occupational health and safety, be pragmatic and promote sensible risk management.
