Abbotsholme is a co-educational, boarding and day school for children aged 2 to 18 years old, set in a large, beautiful estate on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. Assistant Houseparent

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Houseparent to work within our boarding team.

This role would be perfect for a person with a "can do" attitude who may be considering a career in education and is passionate about quality pastoral care.

The role is full time, 5 days out of 7 covering evenings and mornings, working 4:30p.m. - 10:30pm ~ active duty, on call overnight and then 7:30a.m. - 9:30a.m. the following morning. The role includes weekends, working from 5:00p.m. on Friday until 9:30a.m. on Monday. with provision for 1 weekend in 4 off, with two mid week days off within a structured rota. During the weekend period, duties will include the supervision of boarders, trips, activities and academic support if asked for by the student.

You shall work in this role on a term time only basis, plus one week of boarding plus during one school holiday a year. You will also be required to make yourself available before the start of each term and after the end of each term for a minimum of 48 hours.

In addition to this, the Assistant houseparent should be available one day per week to assist the school health center to transport boarders to medical appointments.

Working within the boarding department, the Assistant Houseparent will take an active interest in the lives of the pupils in the house. They will be responsible for supporting house parents in promoting welfare and safety standards along with planning activities for all the boarding students in their house.

This position is residential (self-contained accommodation provided)

Some previous experience of working with children is essential.
