Full Job Description

The Assistant Referrals and Booking Manager is responsible for the line management of administrative and clerical staff and the day to day running of administrative functions associated with the Centralised Referrals and Booking Management Centre and the Clinic Management team.

The post holder will assist the department manager with the planning and prioritisation of the work associated with the teams and organise activities in order to achieve a cost effect, productive, high quality service to all stakeholders.,

  • To line manage, organise and co-ordinate the activities of a cohort of Band 2,3 and 4 admin and clerical staff ensuring the provision of an effective appointment booking service, including recruitment and selection, monitoring and managing sickness absence, conducting return to work interviews, disciplinary and grievance, conducting CONTACT's (appraisals), performance management

  • Induct, train, support and develop members of staff in the team

  • To support the management team to plan and develop the strategic direction of the service

  • To promote a culture of continuous improvement and share this knowledge across the department to improve efficiencies, increase patient care

  • Constantly review processes and explore new ways of working to maximise efficiency

  • Ensure that administrative services function effectively on a day to day basis with effective and efficient utilisation of resources

  • Undertake investigations resolving simple and complex patient queries/complaints from stakeholders, patients and PALS services
