Full Job Description

Would you like to play a big part in making sustainable development a reality? Join our Strategic Planning team where you can maximize your career potential while enjoying a balanced life inside and outside of work.

Our Strategic Planning team is part of one of the country's largest local planning authorities, and currently undergoing an exciting and ambitious transformation programme. We are offering this opportunity to join us and help formulate the policy framework that drives regeneration and sustainable development of locations throughout the county, to help raise prosperity, boost business and make Wiltshire an even better place to call home.

As an Assistant Planning Officer, you will be responsible for processing and analysis of planning data and evidence to aid forward planning, ensuring the review of the strategic development plan (Wiltshire Local Plan) is based on an up-to-date and robust evidence base, and ensuring records of housing and employment delivery and supply are accurately maintained to meet the needs of national and local planning policy. The role will also involve providing support to planning officers preparing the Local Plan and during periods of Plan consultation and examination.

We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional individuals who have a real passion for the economy and environment, who want to make a difference to our people and communities within Wiltshire. You will also have good experience of data handling and analysis, a methodical approach, as well as experience in desktop ICT software (e.g. MS Office) and preferably GIS applications. Some knowledge of the planning system would also be desirable.

If you are ready to join a vibrant team responsible for monitoring and developing Wiltshire's development plan, we would love to hear from you.
