Hi, my name is Debbie Lewis, I am the Clinical Nurse Specialist here at The Beacon. The Beacon is a new community treatment Hub for Young people 13-18 years who are experiencing an eating disorder. We have space to provide intensive treatment for up to 6 children at one time. We are a multidisciplinary team, passionate about supporting young people and their families to recover from an eating disorder in the community.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and confident Assistant Practitioner with the right skills to complement our small multidisciplinary team.

You will work within our newly commissioned Day service and network closely with our existing community teams helping families and young people to thrive. As a new service there will be lots of opportunity for contributing to the new model of care for eating disorders in the region.

We will provide Supervision, reflective practice, training, and opportunities for professional development. We are passionate about improving standards and service user/carer experiences.

To work as part of the specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder team to provide interventions, physical monitoring, and co-ordination of care for young people presenting with eating disorders and their families.

Intensively support families, children and young people within the Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa Model (FT-AN)

This role will initially be based at our Ida Darwin site in Fulbourn before relocating in approx. 12 months.

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services, not only via inpatient and primary care settings, but also within the community. These services include children's, adult and older people's mental health, forensic and specialist mental health, learning disabilities, primary care and liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, social care, research and development., 1. To engage with Families and young people where a diagnosis of an eating disorder has led to a referral for intensive treatment delivering person centred care.
2. Deliver meal support, meal supervision, role modelling a healthy attitude to food, problem solving and practical assistance to young people, parent’s and carers as part of the agreed care plan.
3. Provide pyscho-education on eating disorders and support with a range of practical, health and social care interventions for families & young people, under the supervision of a senior clinician from the MDT.
4. Undertake physical observations and medical monitoring procedures where appropriately trained to do so and respond accordingly to any concerns.
5. Assess risk, Plan, deliver and evaluate service users care in conjunction with the MDT.
6. Maintain adequate healthcare records in line with policy and guidance, practice within professional boundaries and in accordance with code of practice.
7. Support day to day running of service including carrying out daily tasks and supporting students/new members of staff
8. Liaise with external organisations as required, promoting partnership working to ensure holistic care and attending review meetings as delegated.
