Full Job Description

This is an opportunity for an Assistant Practitioner in Mammography to join our team and help provide high quality breast imaging to the residents of Lincolnshire., To provide a high quality mammography service as part of the NHSBSP (National Health Service Breast Screening Programme) and Symptomatic Service under the supervision of a qualified Mammographer.

Work within a prescribed protocol as laid down by departmental protocol and Scope of Practice.

To provide assistance to Radiologists, Radiographers and other staff in the multi-disciplinary breast imaging team.

You will need to have a flexible approach to service provision which will involve working cross site and adapting to last minute rota changes. Duties will be undertaken at the three static breast units at hospitals in Lincoln, Boston and Grantham. Screening is also carried out on two mobile screening units presently located at various sites across Lincolnshire. Travel is essential to this role.

For this role you will possess a Foundation Degree in Breast Imaging (FdSc), Certificate of Higher Education in Mammography or equivalent training. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Practitioner but will consider training up candidates who demonstrate potential.In order to fulfil the required eligibility for training, evidence of prior learning is required to facilitate the funding and course approval.The candidate must have Functional Skills level 2 in English and Maths or GCSE grades A-C/4-9.

The post holder should be enthusiastic, hard-working and hold excellent communication skills. The post will be based at either Lincoln or Boston and the post holder will be expected to have the ability to travel across the County, when required, in the provision of the Trust Wide service. Knowledge of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme and it's aims are essential as well as the symptomatic breast cancer pathway.
