Full Job Description

To provide outstanding leadership to the Senior School; leading strategically on pupil development and well-being

Detail

This exciting senior leadership pastoral role involves leading strategically on pupil development and well-being in the Senior School, contributing to the well-being strand of the whole-school plan, and staying updated on trends in young people's mental health.

The key responsibilities include working with the Senior Leadership Team to develop policies and coaching Heads of Year and the PSHE & RSE Lead in order to enhance pastoral support. The role also requires overseeing the Form Tutor Teams, collaborating across departments to integrate well-being into the curriculum, managing external mental health education relationships, providing leadership and appraisal for pastoral staff, supporting with safeguarding for Key Stages 3 and 4, and liaising with external bodies.

Additional duties include coordinating the school's rewards and sanctions system, investigating behavior incidents where appropriate, supporting the Student Governing Body, and teaching up to eight periods weekly.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Assistant Principal will contribute to the school's vision and strategy, ensuring core values remain central to decision-making. The postholder will line-manage academic departments as directed by the Principal and perform other SLT duties as required.

This position requires a dynamic leader with strong management skills, capable of building rapport with pupils, maintaining high levels of organisation and confidentiality, and possessing excellent communication and presentation abilities. An awareness of the role of well-being in raising standards is essential, and experience in leading school-wide well-being initiatives would be an advantage.
