Full Job Description
The successful candidate will work on Asian Network Breakfast with Nikita Kanda but may also be required to work across the wider Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network production unit. As Assistant Producer you're expected to support and collaborate with your producer and presenter to deliver creative ideas and shows to a brief set by Network.
BBC Asian Network is the UK's biggest Asian multi-platform radio station celebrating British Asian identity - the culture, music and conversation that influence British Asians today. Asian Network Breakfast is moving studios from London to Birmingham in 2025 so we have a rare and exciting opportunity to join popular and vibrant BBC presenter Nikita Kanda. If you're passionate about Breakfast radio, have an excellent understanding of culture relevant to the Asian Network audience, are tapped into popular trends especially music and social media, with a proven track record of thriving in a creative environment - then we'd love to hear from you.,
- Experience working in live radio or equivalent is ideal, with a proven ability to generate creative ideas that connect with a youth British Asian audience.
- You'll need to be passionate about youth trends and have a deep understanding of the culture and heritage relevant to the young Asian Network audience.
- You should be knowledgeable about the music played on Asian Network and interested in the artists we champion.
- You'll be working as part of a production team so you'll need to be able to get along with people from a wide range of backgrounds, and be happy sharing and communicating ideas within the team and with commissioners.
- Attention to detail and working to deadlines is key, you should be organised and adept at prioritising tasks.
- You'll need to understand the pressures of a live studio environment, and be able to deliver complied pre-recorded programme elements under time pressures.
This is a production position working for BBC Audio. We devise, develop and deliver original content for the BBC.
