Full Job Description

Great Minds Together are looking for individuals that are passionate to support with an innovative social and clinical model of change across Education, Health and Social Care that has support from members of Parliament and the NHS.

Initially, you will also be responsible for gathering the extensive data that Great Minds Together produce on our Tier 3.5 programme and provide frequent and detailed progress reports and behavioural analysis in order to inform the varying phases on the individual intervention programs to ensure needs are met. You will display knowledge of mental health and specialist Trauma, LD and Autism programs to formulate effective intervention plans.

You may be asked to carry out observations, questionnaires, and assessments as part of the Outreach programme in order to identify need and will then offer advice on a range of appropriate interventions.

Duties of the role

  • Gather and record data provided in observational recordings

  • Ensure that all daily recordings of the young person's day are kept to a high standard and provide guidance and support to the team to ensure they are in line with the evidence required to ensure the correct level of support is in place

  • Write detailed, accurate and precise reports, making recommendations on action to be taken

  • Be experienced in conducting a variety of assessments with broad knowledge of varying assessment tools and their benefits for young people with complex needs

  • Consult with multi-agency teams to advise on the best approaches and provisions to support learning, development, and emotional wellbeing

  • Be aware of and respond to the needs of children and young people - physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social and cultural

  • Ensure that anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practices are maintained throughout Great Minds Together

  • Create positive relationships with children and young people and interact in a way that promotes self esteem and confidence

  • To be alert and observant with regards to the well-being of the young person

  • To be part of the staff team - to participate in training, to attend staff meetings and to assist with setting functions where required

  • Lead in the development and implementation of young persons' care plan

    Previous experience as an Assistant Psychologist

  • Psychology BSc (Hons)

  • Psychology Masters - Specialism in Education, Clinical, Forensic, Counselling

  • Member of a professional body (e.g BPS)

  • Experience working with young people that have a learning disability, Autism and/or have experienced Trauma (including Trauma from unmet needs)., Ability to understand children and young people that may present with challenging behaviour as a result of past experiences and have patience to help them work through those behaviours and not take their behaviour personally

  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets and Word

  • Assessment skills

  • Ability to understand and advise on conflict and use initiative

  • Ability to work as part of a team and have good organisational skills

  • Oral and written communication skills appropriate to the needs of the children and the staff group

  • Ability to keep records and write reports to a high standards

  • Ability to look at situations from all perspectives, Do you have experience working as an Assistant Psychologist?

  • Do you have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Psychology?

  • Do you have experience working in a setting with children, young people and adults?

  • Do you have a driving licence and a vehicle for travel?
