Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to support our inpatient Neuro-Rehabilitation Units. The units compromise of both Level One and Level 2a units providing highly specialist rehabilitation to people with Acquired Brain Injury across the East Midlands.

The post sits within the Leicester Neuropsychology department which includes neuropsychologists and clinical psychologists working within various specialties including inpatients, outpatients and community. Successful applicants join a supportive department with regular supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development. Research and evaluation activity is actively promoted within the service and there will be opportunities to develop these areas in line with the applicants special interests and service objectives.

The post will be based at Leicester General Hospital, although it is possible some travel may be required.

The role will involve supporting the neuro-rehabilitation units for patients with highly complex cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties in the context of a neurological condition.

There will be opportunity to be involved in individual assessments and rehabilitation programmes under the supervision of qualified staff.

There may also be opportunities for delivering psychoeducation and group work across the units. The successful applicant will work closely with the MDT, attending meetings and joint working with colleagues., subject to a 6-month probationary period (see Probation Policy).
