Assistant Psychologist - Adults of Working Age Inpatient Services, North View, North Manchester General Hospital 1 w.t.e, fixed term (12 months) - Band 4

This post provides a great opportunity to gain experience of working psychologically as an assistant psychologist in acute care services (inpatient ward and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU)) for adults of working age. You will be joining a new team of psychologists and will be working closely with the qualified psychologists to provide psychological input to the Trust's adult inpatient units in North Manchester. You will be working with an experienced team of medical staff, nurses and occupational therapists. The multi- disciplinary teams on each ward specialise in caring for adults of working age, and offer assessment and treatment for a wide range of mental health needs. The psychology team seeks to support holistic, individualised, culturally sensitive care, planned and delivered in collaboration with each service user. As a team we endeavour to work closely with urgent care and the community teams to ensure a seamless admission and discharge, supporting each person to return
to their optimum health., You will be an active member of the acute care workforce. The successful post holder will be working under the supervision of a qualified psychologist and with the operational support of acute care management to facilitate the running of psychology groups for service users on the wards and PICU. Other tasks include brief focussed psychological interventions, supporting the qualified psychologists with team formulation sessions, supporting the development of new groups and initiatives on the ward and attending peer supervision sessions.

The psychology team is committed to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a compassionate, trauma informed and person centred approach.

The post holder will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior psychologist, and will receive appropriate training opportunities .
