Full Job Description

The post holder will join a well-established multi-disciplinary community team for adults with intellectual disabilities, based in the heart of Croydon. The service is located in Bernard Weatherill House, Croydon Council headquarter, and has strong working relationships with key partner agencies including Croydon Adult Social Care, Croydon Mental health in Learning Disabilities (South London & the Maudsley), Forensic LD & ASD Service (Oxleas). The CLDT comprises of Psychologists, Community Learning Disability Nurses, Speech & Language Therapists, a Dietitian and Physiotherapists. We provide a psychological service to adults with intellectual disabilities with mental health needs, and/or behaviours that challenge.,

  • To assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist applied psychology service in Croydon Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT)
  • To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, close clinical and professional supervision of a practitioner psychologist.
  • To assist in clinically related administration, development and completion of audits and/or research projects, collection of statistics, teaching and service development work.
  • To work following clinical and professional guidelines, policies and procedures of the service, while closely supervised and regularly seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time assistant psychologist to join Croydon Community Learning Disabilities Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic psychology graduate committed to making a difference in the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities in Croydon.

    Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
  • CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough's only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team. Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery. Our experienced district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals and community matrons look after for people of all ages across Croydon and our Children's Hospital at Home cares for children with long-term conditions without them having to come to hospital.
