Assistant Psychologist

We are seeking applications from an enthusiastic assistant psychologist with significant research experience and understanding of CAMHS. The post holder must share our passion and commitment to work with young people who present with risks of harm to others and have highly complex needs and trauma presentations.The Assistant psychologist post plays a central role within Forensic CAMHS (FCAMHS) at the Portman Clinic, holding several functions that span the domains of outcome monitoring, audit, research and quality improvement. This post is primarily a research post and does not include clinical duties., o To undertake the role of assistant psychologist on research and audit projects for which the service is responsibleo To be responsible for data collection and input in conjunction with the data quality team for the FCAMHS national evaluationo To assist with FCAMHS research projects, including, data set up, collection, and preparing research papers for publication or presentation.

o To perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative datao To support with collection and analysis of outcome measureso To assist in the management of literature databaseso To assist the service lead in producing relevant reports, for example, reporting activityo To support training initiatives within the service through the collection of information as required and assisting with the preparation of teaching and training materialso To communicate effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues both in writing and verbally about research and audit activity as required.o To present findings to colleagues or multidisciplinary groups as required and to write up for publicationo To work closely with, and receive supervision from, the service lead and senior clinicians of the service.o To assist with data management and analysis (using Excel, SPSS and STATA).

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities, and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties which fall within the grade of the job.

The successful candidate will join a Tier 4 community Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (FCAMHS) based at the Portman Clinic. The service is commissioned by NHS England Specialised Commissioning (London Region) in partnership with NHS England Health and Justice (London Region), and forms part of a national network of similar FCAMHS services across the country. The Portman FCAMHS service model is underpinned by a psychodynamic and attachment theoretical framework. The core aim of the service is to support professional networks understand the complex needs of young people who present with significant healthcare disorders, chaotic histories and significant risks to others through a community consultation model.

£35,964 to £43,780 a year pa inclusive of HCAS / pro-rata
