Full Job Description
We are excited to offer the opportunity for an assistant psychologist to work with our friendly Stroke Psychology team to help complete an exciting project that aims to help improve the lives of stroke survivors and their carers.
We need your help to evaluate the acceptability and effectiveness of a brief psycho-educational intervention with stroke survivors and carers during their post-acute stroke rehabilitation.
You will be working directly with Clinical Psychologists in the delivery and analysis of the project that aims to empower patients / carers to manage the challenges associated with Life After Hospital., With supervision and support from the project leads, your key responsibilities in this project will include:
Engage with stroke MDT to learn about their role with stroke survivors; attend MDT meetings on Thursdays
Liaise / educate MDT about the project
Oversee management of follow-up (letter templates, scheduling)
Conduct follow up telephone calls and semi-structured interviews with stroke survivors and carers; complete semi-structured interviews with MDT members
Data collection and analysis
Assist with written report of project / findings and submit to appropriate conferences.
There may be additional opportunities to co-run therapeutic groups on the ward under the supervision of a clinical psychologist.

The successful candidate will have experience with:
+ - Working with people with physical health and/or neurological conditions
+ - Working within a multi-disciplinary team
+ - Experience of doing research in a health-related field
+ - Experience of completing literature reviews
+ - Experience of using Excel and SPSS to input and analyse data
You will be a confident and compassionate communicator with good multi-tasking and time management skills. You need to be able to work autonomously but also know when to seek support.
