Full Job Description

The assistant will bring a psychologically informed perspective to the ward and generic work and will liaising closely with the other team members. To meet with Service users and under the supervision and in conjunction with colleagues, devise and implement effective individualised programmes of support on the ward. Formulate implement and review person centred care plans including the psychological treatment and management of the service user's problems working closely with the service users and senior staff. To be responsible for supporting and enhancing the provision of Specialist Psychological Services to clients with complex, severe and enduring mental health difficulties entering the Acute psychiatric Services in the area under the professional guidance of a qualified psychologist. To reflect on oneself and ones practice and clinical cases in the context of the clinical work. To actively engage with supervision, preparing cases and questions for discussion as well as taking on feedback and implementing learning that is required. To undertake structured assessment and therapeutic psychological interventions in these services to a level appropriate to the post holders skill using own independent initiative within guidelines provided by a qualified psychologist. To undertake clinically related administration, audit and research projects, teaching and service improvement project work under the professional guidance of a qualified psychologist. Main duties of the job To work closely as part of the MDT, part of ward rounds, safety huddles, ward routines, based predominantly on the wards to be able to actively support and work with patients both though structural engagements such as psychology groups, initial interventions and short-term, brief 1:1 therapy sessions to aid discharge and to link patients into resources in the community. To also support with the ward environment and help to develop a therapeutic environment and trauma informed practices.
