Full Job Description

The Forensic Brain Injury Service at Guild Lodge are delighted to offer a full-time assistant psychologist post to support the ABI Quality Improvement Project. This project has been running since August 2022 and will end on 31st July 2025. This post would be ideal for those psychology graduates with experience in inpatient mental health settings to develop their direct clinical work as well as service development.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join the established multidisciplinary team in the Secure ABI Service. The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high quality, specialist clinical psychology service, to service users with forensic, complex and high-risk needs, resident at Guild Lodge, within low and/or medium secure settings.

To support the provision of psychological care to service users in the Forensic Brain Injury Service, Guild Lodge and supporting a special project aimed at improving pathways in the North West for prisoners with a brain injury. Tasks include assisting with psychological assessment and psychological interventions within the Forensic Brain Injury Service under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and collection of statistics related to departmental research projects, teaching and project work.

Tasks include assisting with psychological assessment and psychological interventions within the Acquired Brain Injury Service under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and collection of statistics related to departmental research projects, teaching and project work.

The post will require liaison and joint work with multidisciplinary colleagues and agencies, and the ability to communicate complex and highly sensitive information using highly developed interpersonal and team working skills. There will be regular review of work goals and weekly clinical supervision.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
