Applications are invited for this Assistant Psychologist post within Salford Older Adult Community Mental Health Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a Psychology team within a CMHT setting. The service focuses on the assessment and support of older people with complex mental health and/or organic presentations (typically dementia). The post will involve assessment, formulation and intervention for Older Adults with complex presentations. It is essential that the post holder, along with senior psychology staff, contributes to the wider multidisciplinary ward team and supports the implementation of a stepped model of care. Within the organisation there are a number of assistant psychologists working with older people. The Trust also has a strong network of assistant psychologists with regular opportunities for training and professional development. The older adult psychology team also have strong links to the three local Doctorate training courses, and regularly have trainees on placement. The post holder will assist qualified clinical psychology and multidisciplinary team staff by: · undertaking psychological assessments and interventions, · preparation of psycho educational materials, · assisting liaison and communication between psychology and other team members, · audit and service development activities, · the post holder will be expected to work independently on a day-to-day basis, to meet goals and tasks set by the supervising clinical psychologist. Work will be undertaken under the management and supervision of qualified clinical psychologist(s) in the team, and within professional guidelines and Service policies and procedures., Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity. To undertake psychological assessments of clients referred to the Team, and assist in the analysis and interpretation of data from various sources e.g. psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observation, interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care. To contribute to risk assessment, formulations of risk management plans. To assist qualified therapy staff in the delivery of specialist psychological interventions with older people with complex acute or chronic cognitive and mental health problems, including work with individuals, couples, families and carers. To contribute to the development of standardised psychological intervention packages which can be implemented by other members of the team within a stepped care model. Staff benefits
