Full Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and organised Assistant Psychologists to support the work of our Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists in our CMHTs in Luton. The role will be critical to supporting the provision of psychological therapies within the teams and of community-based psychoeducational and skills groups. There are Quality Improvement (QI) projects running in the teams and involvement in these projects as a member of the QI project team is integral to the role., The Assistant Psychologist will provide structured assessments and manualised treatments(individual and group) under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. The post holder will also support the work of psychological therapies in Community Mental Health Services by undertaking file/case review, audit, service evaluation and/or research. Further specific duties will be determined on the basis of skills and experience and operational service requirements, and may vary occasionally as service needs/priorities change.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of supporting and facilitating groups under supervision. They will also have a strong academic record with excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent IT literacy skills and skills in data collection and evaluation. We are also looking for people who are able to engage positively and sensitively with people with mental health difficulties and their support networks. The ability to work collaboratively with other professions is a central part of the post in order to provide holistic care within a biopsychosocial model.

All clinical duties will be carried out under the supervision and direction of a qualified Psychological Therapist. The Assistant Psychological Therapist has a responsibility to perform all tasks within the spirit and the policies of the East London NHS Foundation Trust
