Full Job Description

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be required to assist and support the management of a portfolio of capital projects across a range of engineering disciplines, ensuring best in class commercial and cost management that demonstrates value for money on all projects delivered. Your responsibilities will include: 1. Identifying and implementing best practice commercial and cost management from across the water and other sectors of the construction industry. 2. Ensuring Welsh Water's interests are protected at all times and that risks to the business are minimised. 3. Providing commercial and cost management support across a range of projects simultaneously. 4. Assisting with procurement and allocating of capital work to framework contractors. 5. Evaluating tender returns for projects. 6. Preparing Welsh Water project approval documents and ensuring processes are followed. 7. Assisting with the validation and agreeing contract values within the agreed framework of contractors. 8. Assisting in the development of risk registers. 9. Carrying out daily evaluations of completed work. 10. Managing the flow of financial information between finance, SAP teams, project managers and contractors. 11. Developing and supporting internal and external benchmarking. 12. Preparing, agreeing and signing off final account documentation. 13. Preparing, agreeing and signing off Data Capture documentation. 14. Produce estimates/quotes as required. 15. Undertaking appropriate 'lessons learnt' analysis upon project completion in order to ensure that there is a continuous improvement process applied.Who you'll work with Internal

    Qualified to a minimum of HNC level
  • Experience of working in the water industry
  • Experience of NEC contract administration
  • Experience and understanding of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Excellent communicator and team player who understands the importance of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined team environment
  • Ability to work to tight regulatory and project timelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC contract administration
  • Excellent analytical and data interrogation skills with an ability to extract relevant information and present it in a logical and structured manner.
