"Delivering the best for residents" is our vision for change in Adult Social Care across Richmond and Wandsworth.Above all, it is about promoting people's wellbeing and supporting residents to stay active in their communities and retain their independence for as long as possible., An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Service Manager to join our fast paced, dynamic, and evolving Community Advice and Support team (CAST) based in Richmond. CAST is a part of the front door service thataims to shift away from process-led intervention to a more dynamic-based practice model which places our clients at the very centre of all that we do.CAST also carry out the Safeguarding Adults screening function for concerns raised into adult social care. In this role you will supporting the Service Manager to lead a team of Social Workers and Social Care Assessors to deliver a strength-based and preventative service to our residents.The Assistant Team Manager will drive excellent standards of social work practice while sharing our values and commitment to the community. About the role The role of the Assistant Service Manager is a leadership role within the Front Door Service that supports the and Service Manager to lead and line manage the team ensuring the delivery of a strengths-based, person-centred service for adults with social care needs and their carers. Your primary duties will include:

  • To facilitate service user choice and empowerment through promoting independence and strength-based practice
  • To provide operational and motivational leadership to manage performance and embed the Department's vision and values
  • To undertake statutory intervention when people are at risk or may be neglected or abused. This will include chairing Section 42 Safeguarding Adults Enquiries.
  • Co-ordination, oversight and clear decision making in managing incoming work and allocation

  • Have the interests of residents and service users at heart, and ensuring they receive the highest standards of service provision

  • Have knowledge of current developments in relevant legislation, national guidance and frameworks and how to access more detailed information when necessary, including the local authority's responsibility to safeguard adults at risk
  • Be able to make rapid judgements, at times in emergencies
  • This is a busy team with a fast throughput of work, therefore excellent time management skills and the ability to manage your own caseload is essential.,
  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent)
  • SWE registered (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge/Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience of working in a statutory social care or health setting. Sound knowledge of current Adult Social Care legislation and their application in casework management A sound understanding of the local authority's statutory responsibility to safeguard vulnerable adults Experience as a Safeguarding Adults Manager A comprehensive understanding of strengths-based and preventative social care. Experience supervising qualified social workers. Evidence of partnership working to achieve positive outcomes.
