Full Job Description
The Assistant Service Manager works closely with the Service Manager and Directorate Manager to ensure robust systems are in place to achieve the delivery of the Directorate and efficient and effective day-to-day running of services. · The post holder has a primary focus on Oxford Critical Care (OCC) and supports the Service Manager and Directorate Manager to deliver key quality, performance and financial plans of the Directorate. · Working as part of the wider Directorate operational leadership team, the key responsibilities of the role include: § Ensuring all local processes are in line with Trust and National processes § Reviewing and improving data quality within the Directorate and clinical business units § Working with clinical service units to optimise and standardise administrative processes to ensure an efficient and effective patient care delivery pathway § Delivery of training to Directorate staff on processes and mechanisms for patient care documentation on Trust Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and Medirota rota management systems § Provide a patient-focused administrative service with primary focus on Oxford Critical Care and provide line management to OCC administrative staff across the John Radcliffe and Churchill sites, In conjunction with the Service Manager and Directorate Manager, the post-holder will assist and lead in the formulation and implementation of Service policies, projects and strategies through the efficient use of resources.

- Degree or equivalent professional qualification/training or experience
- Relevant management qualification or equivalent training/experience Desirable criteria
- Completion or evidence of leadership course, Experience of working in a healthcare setting, particularly the NHS
- Experience of working with clinicians and other healthcare professionals
- Several years of first line management experience
- Experience of managing rotas to support service delivery
- Evidence of supporting improvement project
- Experience of investigating complaints Desirable criteria
- Experience of waiting list management
- Experience working in the NHS, particularly in service-based roles, Basic financial knowledge
- How to access information from the Intranet and the Internet
- Data protection and Confidentiality
- Demonstrable management skills Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS targets particularly RTT and patient pathways, Advanced Excel Skills
- Analytical and reporting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to gain and sustain credibility with clinicians/managers
- Self-motivated and ability to prioritise and manage the on-going work of services and/or projects
- Results orientated and delivery against targets and deadlines
- Able to lead and support a team, particularly at times of pressure
- Ability to relate appropriately to various professional groups in the Trust and externally
- Flexible, positive attitude to all tasks and stakeholders

- Advanced keyboard skills
- Clinic Set ups and manipulation thereof
