Full Job Description

As an Assistant Service Manager you manage the operations of Youth Justice Services in Sheffield on a day to day basis with direct operational control over elements of the service and in the absence of the Service Manager, to deputise for all aspects of service strategy and delivery within the Local Authority. You are responsible for the supervision of Team Managers and assisting the Service Manager in ensuring that effective systems are in place regarding the deployment of resources, performance management and strategic planning.

The successful candidate will embrace a trauma informed and child first approach to Youth Justice. They will have knowledge of the issues that impact children & families, and which can lead to engaging in offending behaviour, alongside an understanding of relevant legislation & National Standards. You will have excellent skills in engaging and building relationships with staff within and outside the service. You will provide supervision to staff on a formal and informal basis and through this will drive improvement and support staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for children. You will also develop relationships with key partners across the city providing services to children and their families.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
