Full Job Description

Join our Dynamic Children in Care team, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the service. Located in Salisbury, this position caters to the South region of the county.

Dedicated to improving the lives of looked-after children and meeting the unique needs of the most vulnerable, we received an 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted in September 2023, with positive inspection feedback for our service.

As an Assistant Team Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping a positive impact on families. Working closely with the Team Manager, you will manage and supervise a number of qualified Social Workers and you will be keeping the needs of vulnerable young people firmly at the heart of all you do. Your dedication will drive positive change and shape a brighter future for those in need.

We have a local offer for care leavers and 'The Leaving Care Forum,' complementing the Children in Care service, as we strive to enhance inclusion and participation for all our looked-after and care-experienced young individuals.

To qualify for this position, you need a social work qualification, registration with Social Work England, and experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with a level 4 management qualification being preferable. You will have at least 3 years' experience of working in children and families' social care.

To change everything around you, change where you work

Whether your aspirations lie in children's services or adult care, you can build a life that has real balance at Wiltshire Council. We are a positive and innovative place to work and bring a genuine can-do approach to everything we do. We have simplified our structures to ensure that our decisions are focused on our communities. Protecting the vulnerable is one of our key priorities - help us achieve this.

Our promise to you

We are innovating to create strong communities - we will empower you to share your ideas, to make suggestions and to help us find new solutions to old problems, whilst supporting you with the latest technology and encouraging collaboration with our communities, partners and colleagues.

We don't focus on limitations; we focus on opportunities and possibilities. In doing so, we're perfectly placed to help you achieve your potential and enjoy a truly fulfilling career. And this means you'll be able to empower our communities too, working collaboratively to help our residents live happier, healthier lives.

Our focus is on creating strong communities and we need aspirational, committed social workers. Learn about our approach to social care, our new social care academy and browse our vacancies.

We give our staff the opportunity to learn, develop, and grow. Our induction process for new starters is excellent, and you will receive regular supervision and training, access to memberships and subscriptions such as Research in Practice and Social Care Information and Learning Services (SCILS), team meetings, peer groups, journal clubs - the list goes on!

Join us and unlock the potential for personal and professional growth, as you contribute to creating a supportive and empowering environment for both your team and the families we serve.
