We support curiosity in all we do to find development and learning opportunities for individuals and our team to grow as a service., We are looking for an Assistant Team Manager who will be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding and commitment to the "new ways of working" supporting people to enhance their independence to remain well in their own homes. You will also be able to triage referrals in respect of urgency and the need for a Care Act assessment and should have good knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and the NHS Continuing Healthcare National Framework. We currently have vacancies in our management team in supporting our Duty team in screening and responding to all requests, Allocations and long term work, and Hospital Discharge team that includes supporting our integration with Kingston Hospital in discharging Surrey residents, and in our partnership work with our community hospitals. You will be an excellent communicator and demonstrate the skills and ability to manage and support the day to day running of a busy, dynamic team effectively prioritising daily challenges and expectations. You will be confident in making sound decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs and emergencies that arise in the community. You will be able to develop effective partnership relationships with individuals, carers and families and positive relationships with health staff. You will be supporting the manager to deliver high quality personalised adult social care, supervision of both qualified and unqualified staff and addressing Safeguarding concerns, ensuring that they are followed through as appropriate. You will be required to line manage both social workers and unqualified staff members within the team, particularly those working in "the front door". You will need to apply an extensive knowledge of social work practice, theory and legislation to enhance practice, procedures and policies, promote innovation, and introduce new ways of working from recognised sites of excellence. In addition you will be expected to carry a small caseload (of up to 9 cases) which are complex and varied.

  • Significant post qualification experience and have some management experience.
  • A key accountability of the role is developing staff practice and therefore applicants must be able demonstrate evidence of providing effective professional supervision to qualified staff and less experienced colleagues.
  • A willingness and ability to travel across Surrey in accordance with the demands of the work and job profile.
  • Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.

    This role has a starting salary of £52,942 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. This is a 12-month secondment opportunity. We are excited to be hiring a new Assistant Team Manger to join our fantastic Elmbridge Locality team. The team is based in Weybridge. Rewards and Benefits
