Full Job Description

As an Assistant Technical Officer, the post holder will be expected to work unsupervised in simple cardiac diagnostic investigations. It is expected that the successful candidate will possess initiative and drive to complement their role, within a busy department, and who will relish the challenge of being part of the team that will be taking our department forward. Candidates who lack experience will be provided with training plans devised by our training co-ordinator to address the training needs. The department encourages continual professional development. The successful candidate will ideally work towards the SCST, Certificate in ECG interpretation and will be expected to work across both New Cross and Cannock sites and to support our CDC unit., To perform and evaluate Electrocardiograms (ECG) for both in patients and outpatients.
To assist in the delivery of the Ambulatory monitoring service.
To participate in an ongoing training/competency programme.
To record all patient investigation activity daily.
To assist departmental manager with audits and statistical data.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To use current PAS when necessary.
To deal with telephone and personal enquiries when necessary.
To participate in departmental educational study sessions.
To assist in maintenance of stock levels.
To assist in general diagnostic equipment maintenance.
Liaise with all grades of hospital staff.
Personal responsibility for Health and Safety within the Cardiology Department, and to be familiar with the policies and procedures governing the work environment.
To maintain confidentiality of records, information, and any correspondence.
