Full Job Description

We are currently seeking to recruit an outstanding and motivated teacher of Mathematics who is ready to play a key leadership role and contribute to the vision and strategic leadership for our Mathematics department (TLR 2.3). You will join an ambitious team who are committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for all our students.

The responsibilities of this position are significant; you will work alongside the Head of Department and lead a department of 16 talented and experienced teachers. We have a Maths Leadership Team currently comprised of two Assistant Subject Leaders and one colleague leading the department's development of Mastery. You will also be well supported by your SLT Line Manager and the wider leadership team. As part of your role, you will work collaboratively with the other Heads of Department to develop a shared and coordinated approach to supporting student progress.

This is a pivotal time for the Maths department who have been working collaboratively to foster mixed attainment teaching in Key Stage 3, developing a consistent understanding of and approach to pedagogy. As a school we have invested in the development of the department, appointing additional staff to create a greater number of classes in Key Stage 4, alongside providing designated collaborative planning time and CPD focused on a Mastery approach to teaching Mathematics.

Improvement in Maths is a key driver of our school improvement agenda. Whilst we are proud of the significant improvement in Maths provision in recent years, there is still more to do. The successful candidate will require the necessary ambition and determination to take the department to the next stage of its development. The leaders in the department work closely together and, under your direction, they will strategically direct the curriculum to improve the attainment and progress of all students.

All colleagues who join our school are entitled to rich professional learning and ongoing professional development.
