Full Job Description
The Bedford College Group are currently seeking an Associate Art Technician to join our Arts Department at the Bedford Sixth Form As an Associate Art Technician, you will play a key role in the success of our students through:
- Checking and maintaining art and design equipment - sewing machines, print press, studio lighting etc
- Tidying and maintaining a safe working environment for the Art and Design A-level staff and students.
- Decorating - painting display boards
- Logging maintenance and IT jobs
- Displaying work, hanging work where required
- Ordering, auditing and inventory of stock
- Keeping stock up to date
- Maintaining dark room
- Setting up for lessons, assisting in lessons if needed and clearing up after lessons
- Being responsible for opening up or locking up at the end of the day when applicable
- Supervising art & design department - including students, equipment, various rooms, Successful candidates must also be able to demonstrate alignment to our organisational values:

They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
Relevant qualification for the subject applying to teach - English and mathematics or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent Industry experience of subject sector applying to teach
- Experience of meeting deadlines
- Experience of monitoring and recording data and taking appropriate actions
- Keeping up to date with developments in subject specialism and sharing expertise with colleagues
- Evidence of high performance in previous roles/jobs
- Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Evidence of understanding how to promote equality and diversity within the job role
- Ability to effectively research, develop and implement new learning materials to engage students in learning
- Ability to extend students learning experience by developing and implementing appropriate vocational opportunities.
- Responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns
