Full Job Description

This is an exciting time to join Bupa as we have made significant investment within Health Services. We are increasing our portfolio of Bupa Health Clinics and expanding our products and services for our customers. The Remote GP Service is a rapidly growing service, and we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Associate Clinical Director to join our Remote Services Team. This role is responsible for the clinical oversight of the Remote GP Service (both Health Assessments and Primary Care), keeping regularly up to date with changes in guidelines and best practice and working collaboratively with other members of the management team to ensure provision of high standards of clinical practice and customer service. How you'll help us make health happen:

  • Support the delivery of effective clinical performance with monitoring of clinics Remote doctors and Lead Physicians and Allied Clinicians
  • Support the delivery of clinical governance, quality initiatives, education and product development across the Remote GP service.
  • To engage in quality improvement activities and actively develop processes and initiatives which support: clinical and operational effectiveness, clinical safety, regulatory compliance, customer feedback, professional development and business success
  • To understand and engage in the delivery of Bupa Health Clinics strategy with regards to the Remote GP service.
  • Undertake regular clinical sessions per week, minimum of 1 per working week within the remote GP service.
  • Develop sustainable CPD and career development opportunities for all Clinicians in Bupa's remote clinical workforce.
  • Provide Clinical Support to commercial parts of the Business, such as Account Managers, Media teams, Product development teams, Recruitment and Sales Teams
  • Supporting clinicians in the workplace, by working with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that the clinical workforce needs are clearly considered when decisions involving clinicians are taken.
  • To be a reliable and trusted clinical voice with the Business, to have high personal levels of commitment to business success, clinical excellence, and integrity. Leading by example.
  • The Associate Clinical Director will be comfortable making independent decisions, escalating where necessary and can work on your own initiative;
  • Ensure that a comprehensive set of clinical policies and procedures are in place
  • Support the Remote GP Service to meet CQC regulatory requirements, engaging in toolkits and dashboards.
  • Work with LPs/PICs to support centres to deliver high standard care;
  • Utilise and develop tools to ensure consistency of product delivery across the network of clinics both Bupa clinics and partnerships;
  • Ensure that serious complaints are dealt with promptly and escalated where appropriate;
  • Deputise for the Clinical Director when needed and support the Clinical Director and Medical Director in driving the BHC strategy.

    Full registration, a licence to practice and on the GP register;
  • Substantial experience in General Practice, and currently active in NHS General Practice;
  • MRCGP and member of Medical Defence Organisation;
  • Current BLS training certificate and Safeguarding Level 3/4 training certificate;
  • Sound knowledge of the healthcare industry both private and NHS;
  • Practical experience of developing and enforcing standards within a clinical setting including audit experience and risk management;
  • Experience of both managing clinicians and working clinically within a remote clinical setting;
  • Proven management experience including strong leadership capabilities and relationship management;
  • Extensive in-depth knowledge of CQC and other applicable regulatory standards and requirements;
  • Practical experience of developing and enforcing standards within a clinical setting and risk management;
  • Experience in complaint handling, managing incidents and significant events;
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills and confident decision making.
