Full Job Description

The role involves the delivery of efficient, high-quality Radiation Protection services to users of both clinical x-ray imaging equipment and radioactive substances.
Duties will include technical assistance in dosimetry, laboratory and instrument calibration services, and occasional assistance in radioactive waste management, radon protection services and possible assistance in X-ray equipment QA. Assistance in the development of services and procedures, support for research and development programs, To provide technical support to scientific staff in the provision of a high quality radiation protection service to users of x-ray units, radioactive materials and non-ionising radiations, extending over a comprehensive range of services, in both hospital environments and to external clients.
Schedule and organise the calibration service of diagnostic survey monitors used by the Section.
Participate in the scheduling and calibration of portable radiation protection instruments.
Participate in the scheduling and testing of sealed sources.
Participate in the provision of laboratory services and the completion of laboratory QA and health and safety routines.
To follow Section procedures, maintain appropriate records and to report any non-conformances to senior members of the section.
To participate in providing a personal dosimetry service for staff monitored in respect of their exposure to ionising radiation., You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 12 months due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project's implementation and the timescales associated with this.
