Full Job Description

The CDR team are looking to recruit a junior associate in to the Oxford office, for their busy and growing team. This position will involve working in the Restructuring & Insolvency Team, which forms part of the wider Commercial Dispute Resolution team. This role will be a mix of contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency work., The candidates will work in the Restructuring and Insolvency team, assisting more senior members of the team with a range of cases in terms of size and subject matter. The team have a varied and wide ranging practice in relation to both corporate entities and individuals. Essential & Desirable Criteria:

  • Technical knowledge of and familiarity with contentious and non-contentious insolvency and restructuring law, and a genuine enthusiasm for the practice area and how it will develop in the future. In particular an active interest in the currently developing caselaw.
  • Some knowledge and experience of as much of the below as possible;
  • administrations (appointment/trading issues/pre-packs etc) and floating charge issues;
  • receiverships (appointment and management all the way to sale);
  • members voluntary liquidations (advising all parties, representing IPs, strategic advice, the procedure itself and associated indemnity and early distribution issues)
  • CVLs - procedure and advice to the company on strategy prior, creditor related issues, SIP2 investigations and conversion from MVL
  • CVAs, Schemes of Arrangement and Part 26A restructuring plans - both acting for the company/IP and challenges by creditors
  • All usual antecedent and directors duties/misfeasance actions (contentious and preventative)
  • Disclaimer in liquidation
  • Directors duties advice
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy, and the post-bankruptcy issues that would be relevant to a trustee would be beneficial

    Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work and deliver to tight or changing deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive and collaborative team member with a professional, user focussed approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in partnership with lawyers and support staff, for the benefit of clients.
  • We of course appreciate that not all of this will be covered as a junior and what is most important to the team is a desire to learn
