Associate Counsel

Description SmartStream Technologies is looking for an Associate Counsel to be based in our London office. The successful candidate will report to and work closely with the General Counsel to provide the Company with legal assistance on corporate, transactional, and general legal matters., It is mandatory for the successful candidate to have at least two years of proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, particularly in the information technology sector.
Job Responsibilities

• Provide legal assistance on corporate, transactional and general legal matters. Draft and review technology contracts including software license, maintenance, professional services, non-disclosure and other agreements used in the financial and information technology service sectors.


• Work with customers' counsel as needed in connection with contractual negotiations.


• Keep up to date with laws and regulations relevant to the industry.


• Maintain legal matters library and archives.


• Respond to general requests of a legal nature as they arise.

• Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment and to work with minimum supervision.


• Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to develop effective working relationships with staff at all levels.


• Attention for detail, accuracy, timeliness and professionalism.


• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, to organize and prioritize workload effectively in order to meet deadlines.


• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.


• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).


• Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex issues.

Desirable Skills
• Knowledge of foreign languages a plus but not a prerequisite.

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent

Experience
• Knowledge of technology licensing transactions, and proven drafting skills are a must and a prerequisite for consideration.


• At least two years of experience in drafting and reviewing technology related contracts.


• Familiar with corporate governance and corporate structure work.
